REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling are Getting Major Tweaks, Says Developer

The developers behind REPO are set to make significant adjustments to the game's difficulty scaling by introducing new mechanics every 10 levels. Dive into the details of the upcoming changes to the Overcharge mechanic and discover what the team at Semiwork has been working on during the game’s open beta.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

REPO's recent open beta has provided crucial feedback that the developers at Semiwork are eager to incorporate. One of the key areas of focus has been the Overcharge mechanic, which allows players to strategically counter enemies by picking them up and throwing them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, this action is regulated by an overcharge meter; if it fills up, the player will explode.

Originally, the Overcharge mechanic was available right from the start, but the developers have decided to unlock it at level 10. Moreover, they plan to introduce new mechanics that increase difficulty every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and so on), with Overcharge serving as the initial scaled challenge.

These new mechanics will be integrated with the game's lore, as Semiwork's developers explained, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."

Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking

During the open beta phase, Semiwork developers immersed themselves in the player experience by joining random matches. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his satisfaction with the community's engagement, stating, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He further added, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the invaluable feedback gathered during the open beta, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates in the future, and the developers have assured that they will continue to keep the community informed.
