Phom, also known as Ta La or Tu Lo Kho, is a beloved card game among Vietnamese people, particularly popular in the northern regions. In the south, it’s often referred to as Ta La, while in the north, it goes by Phom. The objective of the game is to strategically collect and discard cards to form sets called Phom while minimizing the total score of leftover cards. Utilizing a traditional 52-card deck, combined with diverse playing styles, makes this game highly engaging and entertaining.

How to Play Phom - Ta La
Each game typically involves 2–4 players. Players are dealt 9 cards each, except the dealer (or previous winner), who receives 10 cards. The remaining cards become Studs, placed face-down in the center of the table.
Game Flow:

- Turn Order: Counterclockwise.
- Actions:
- The current player discards a card.
- The next player either matches the card to form a Phom or draws from the Stud pile.
- The process repeats until someone buzzes or four rounds pass.
Endgame:
- The game concludes when a player buzzes (forms all Phom sets). If no one buzzes, scores are calculated based on leftover cards after four rounds.
- Final scores depend on positions and specific game events like taking the pin or buzzing.
Scoring Rules:
- Lowest score wins.
- Aces, Jacks, Queens, and Kings count as 1, 11, 12, and 13, respectively. Other cards retain their face value.

- Second place: -1 point.
- Third place: -2 points.
- Last place: -3 points.
