When it comes to tracking down and identifying the most dangerous ghosts in *Phasmophobia*, players often turn to powerful tools like Cursed Possessions. These items can offer unique advantages—but they come with significant risks. One such item is the Voodoo Doll, a valuable yet hazardous tool that can help provoke a ghost into revealing evidence. Here’s how to find and use it effectively.

The Voodoo Doll is widely regarded as one of the safer Cursed Possessions available in Phasmophobia. While updates have slightly altered its mechanics, it still offers a favorable risk-to-reward ratio compared to other cursed items.

Its primary function is to encourage the ghost to perform actions related to evidence gathering. By inserting each pin into the doll—one at a time—you can provoke the ghost into producing signs such as EMF Level 5 or Ultraviolet prints. This makes the Voodoo Doll especially useful when dealing with quiet or inactive spirits that aren’t naturally revealing clues.

There are a total of 10 pins you can push into the doll. However, every insertion reduces your sanity by 5%, meaning pushing all pins will result in a 50% loss of your maximum sanity. That puts you at a much higher risk of triggering a ghost hunt.

More dangerously, one of the pins is located in the heart of the doll. If this specific pin is pushed, it causes a 10% sanity drop and immediately triggers a Cursed Hunt. During this event, the ghost spawns nearby and hunts for an extended duration—20 seconds longer than normal. Since the heart pin is chosen randomly, there's always a chance of triggering this deadly scenario.

Despite these dangers, the Voodoo Doll can be a game-changer if used wisely and with proper preparation. It allows players to collect crucial evidence faster without relying solely on passive observation.

What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions, sometimes referred to as “Cursed Objects,” are rare and powerful items that spawn randomly on any map in Phasmophobia. Their appearance may vary depending on difficulty settings or whether you're playing in Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment—which is designed to help locate the ghost and gather evidence with minimal danger—Cursed Objects manipulate the ghost through supernatural means. They provide shortcuts or strategic benefits but pose serious threats to the player's safety.

Each Cursed Possession has a unique effect, and while some are safer than others, the decision to use them depends on your team's strategy and risk tolerance. Importantly, there is no penalty for choosing not to interact with them.

Only one Cursed Object typically appears per contract unless custom settings are enabled. The full list of Cursed Possessions includes:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
