The game introduces the "Elven Curse" and your unlikely ally, Foria, a quarter-elf who secretly aids your escape. Gameplay is streamlined, utilizing a maximum of three buttons outside the main menu.
Character Creation: While character customization is limited, you can repeatedly reroll stats until satisfied. These stats, and their growth rate, are only viewable on the character creation screen.
Foria, the Peddler Quarter-Elf: This mysterious child-like figure, despite claiming to be older, provides crucial support using the forest's ancient spirits.
Game Mechanics:
- Exploration: Progress through the forest by exploring unexplored areas. The success of each exploration attempt is determined by "fog depth" and your character's stats. If your life force is depleted, use poison or rare talismans to recover, potentially requiring a return to Foria.
- Combat (Hunter Battles): Wild animals, from wolves to surprisingly aggressive frogs, will attack. Defeat them for materials to trade with Foria, but note that combat is not essential for progression and can be avoided entirely with skill or luck. Combat uses a bow and arrow; maintain distance to attack safely, or use wound medicine to heal. If cornered, you can either withdraw (with a chance of failure) or use a flash ball provided by Foria for a guaranteed escape.
- Cloak System: Craft a cloak from gathered materials, layering up to three times for stat boosts. The top layer is susceptible to damage and eventual destruction.
