The Marvel Rivals development team has acknowledged a significant issue where players running the game on lower FPS settings experience reduced damage output compared to those on higher-end devices. They are diligently working to rectify this problem, with a potential fix expected within days.
Since its launch in early December 2025, Marvel Rivals has quickly become a beloved title within the hero shooter genre. Despite initial concerns about hero balance, the game has garnered an impressive 80 percent player approval rating from over 132,000 reviews on Steam, reflecting strong community support.
Recently, many players have reported a glitch at 30 FPS that causes certain heroes, including Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine, to deal less damage. This issue becomes particularly evident with some or all of their attacks at lower frame rates. A community manager on the Marvel Rivals official Discord server confirmed these observations under the game-news tab, noting that the glitch not only affects movement at lower frame rates but also impacts the damage dealt by these heroes. While a complete fix might take some time, Community Manager James has reassured fans that the upcoming Season 1 update, set to launch on January 11, will address this issue.
Marvel Rivals is Fixing the 30 FPS Damage Bug
The root of the problem appears to be linked to the game's client-side prediction mechanism, a programming technique used to reduce perceived lag by moving characters onscreen before the server processes player input.
The community manager's post did not provide a full list of the heroes or specific moves affected by this bug but did mention Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw abilities. These effects are more pronounced when tested against stationary targets, though they are less noticeable during actual gameplay. If the Season 1 update on January 11 does not fully resolve the FPS damage issue, the development team has promised a future update to address it completely.
