Pixel Tribe's Goddess Order: A Deep Dive into Pixel Art and Gameplay
We recently had the chance to interview Ilsun (Art Director) and Terron J. (Contents Director) from Pixel Tribe, the developers behind the upcoming Kakao Games title, Goddess Order. This pixel RPG promises a captivating experience, and our Q&A reveals the creative process behind its unique style.
Droid Gamers: What inspires your pixel sprite creation?
Ilsun: Goddess Order's high-quality pixel art aims for a console-level feel, emphasizing narrative. Inspiration draws from a vast well of games and stories, focusing on the subtle nuances of experience rather than direct imitation. The collaborative process is key. Initial characters—Lisbeth, Violet, and Jan—were initially solo creations, but team discussions significantly shaped their final designs and the overall art style. Ongoing collaboration with writers and designers ensures character concepts translate seamlessly into pixel art. The process is iterative, with brainstorming sessions refining character details and backstories.

Droid Gamers: How do you build the world of a fantasy RPG?
Terron J.: Goddess Order's world-building starts with its characters. Lisbeth, Violet, and Jan formed the core, their personalities and backstories shaping the game's narrative. Developing their stories felt less like work and more like uncovering a living history—tales of growth and heroism. The emphasis on manual combat arose from experiencing the characters' strength while crafting the storyline.
Droid Gamers: How do you design combat styles and animations?
Terron J.: Goddess Order's turn-based combat uses three characters with link skills for synergy. Design focuses on creating unique roles for each character, ensuring strategic depth in team composition. Balancing utility and intuitive controls is paramount.
Ilsun: Visually, we aim for impactful combat. While 2D pixel art is used, characters utilize three-dimensional movement, adding depth to the battles. The studio uses real-world props to study weapon movements for authenticity.
Terron J.: Technical optimization is crucial for mobile performance. The team ensures smooth gameplay even on lower-spec devices, without sacrificing the immersive cutscenes.

Ilsun: Goddess Order aims to capture the feel of a classic JRPG. Post-launch, continuous updates to the chapter and origin stories are planned, along with challenging advanced content and additional activities like quests and treasure hunts.
The interview highlights the dedication and collaborative spirit behind Goddess Order. The developers' passion for pixel art and storytelling shines through, promising a unique and engaging RPG experience.
